Mary Dining Chair

One of the most imposing and provocative figures of the Hollywood Golden Era, Mary Mae West was the ultimate symbol of independence and allure. Inspired by her magnetic personality and legendary silhouette, Ottiu’s designers conceived the Mary Dining Chair.

Much like the iconic gala gowns that defined West’s unapologetic femininity, the Mary Dining Chair is a masterclass in provocative geometry. The circular backrest artfully mimics a highlighted bust, while the bold, wide “V” legs recreate the dramatic sweep of a dress opening toward the spotlight. At its heart, the handcrafted upholstered wooden structure acts as a couture corset, “pinching” the upholstery at the waist to create that unmistakable, cinched hourglass curve.

Dressed up in a deluxe combination of geometric-patterned velvet and tactile bouclé, the Mary Dining Chair offers a sophisticated balance between a provocative shape and an inviting, cozy touch. Supported by legs upholstered in bouclé for a seamless, haute couture finish, this piece is a statement designed to transform any dining room into a glamorous, cinematic scene.

The design features a distinctive circular, hollowed-out back upholstered in two contrasting fabrics: a textured, cream-colored bouclé on the inner curves and a geometric pattern of tan and blush-pink triangles on the outer edges and seat. The chair is set against a soft, gradient lavender background, emphasizing its modern, artisanal aesthetic.

The space features a set of Mary dining chairs with unique looped backrests and patterned upholstery surrounding a Buck Oval dining table. Above the table hangs the sculptural, branching Berlin suspension lamp, while a Silo wall lamp provides soft accent lighting next to a modern figurative painting. To the left, a textured Mon Ooh sideboard in a dusty rose finish sits against a white paneled wall, all tied together by a wavy-edged cream rug on dark wood floors.
